The gender expression lines for women are more blurred than they are for men so it's not necessarily easier, but simply more acceptable for women to accept LGBT info their social circle than it is men. Unfortunately the masculine image is very rigid and in male social groups the need to conform to that image is very dominant. Like wise the feminine expression is expected by most men to be simply feminine. Given the fact that humanities largest form of expression is through mannerisms and wardrobe...it's difficult to for men to find an acceptable form of expression outside the norm that remains masculine, or accept any expression by a man or woman that violates that masculine or feminine expectation. I'm certainly not condoning this issue, just pointing out that society creates these expectations, but until the changes we see happening for the better are more widespread and we successfully challenge the male female stereotype this will continue to occur. |
